American International Underwriters (AIG General China) is headquartered in New York; AIG General China is the overseas property/casualty insurance organization of AIG. With its long experience and comprehensive network, AIG General China is now well positioned to capitalize on new opportunities arising from the increasing liberalization of Chinese Market.
In 1999, AIG General China was granted an insurance license to establish AIG General China Shenzhen branch (hereinafter called "AIG General China Shenzhen") and became the first wholly-foreign-owned general insurance company to operate casualty, property and liability in the local market.
As approved by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC), in 2004, AIG General China Shenzhen is licensed to provide all the enterprises and institutions as well as individual consumers within Shenzhen with all of the following non-life insurance services except for the compulsory insurance: (i) General insurance including property damage insurance, liability insurance and credit insurance, etc,; (ii) Short term accident and health insurance; (iii) Reinsurance business of the above types of insurance.
