PAPAO - Popularly called Afzelia Africana or DOUSSIE, LINGUE, APA, AFZELIA etc.
Very stable strong and attractive commercial species of good durability.
Weight: Heavy 825kg/m3 at 12.15% moisture content. STRENGHT: High, NATURAL DURABILITY; Very High, SHRINKAGE: Small/Medium, MOVEMENT IN SERVICE: Small, HISTORICAL PRODUCTION VOLUME: High
Dark Red Brown heartwood, Sapwood Pale, Grain Interlocked, Coarse texture, Some species of Afzelia contain yellow deposit which stains textiles. Dries slowly but with little degrade. Very stable. USES; High quality exterior and interior joinery, heavy construction, flooring, chemical vats, selected furniture, handles, cycle track decking, boat work, vehicle bodies, doors.
